With generations of sedan design and innovative improvements behind us, a list of all Mazda sedans covers the entire history of automotive development. From early rotary engine models to cutting-edge new vehicles, these cars pushed driving forward. These are a few of our favorite classic cars at Mazda of Kent, but there’s even more to dig into in Mazda history.
1967 MAZDA Luce
No, it’s not pronounced like “loose” — the 1967 Mazda Luce was pronounced “loo-chey.” Whether or not drivers pronounced it the right way, this first Mazda sedan was a classic ride with rear-wheel drive. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, who also worked on luxury cars and even a classic Nikon camera, this ride had style that still stands out.
1973 MAZDA RX-4
When the Mazda RX-4 hit the market in 1972, there was one thing that made it instantly unique: a rotary engine under the hood. These engines provided a smooth, constant drive, unlike the jolts and sudden starts other sedans were known for. The rotary engine appeared across the lineup throughout the 1970s, and it all started with this engaging drive.
1987 MAZDA 929
It’s easy to forget how many standard features on modern Mazda cars were luxurious standouts on models like the 1987 Mazda 929. This executive car featured available heated seats and even oscillating fans for the air conditioning system, features that were stand-out innovations for the time. Plus, this sedan had plenty of kick under the hood, with a 3.0-liter V6 engine that produced a then-outstanding 150 horsepower.
2025 MAZDA3 Sedan
The modern 2025 Mazda3 Sedan captures everything that has made these models unique over the years. The i-Activsense® suite of safety features and an 8.8-inch infotainment display make this cabin lightyears ahead of any other Mazda sedan.
